Add friends across platforms
The Outlast Trials supports crossplay between PC on Steam or Epic, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Use the game’s Social menu and Outlast ID to find friends on another platform.
- Both players enter the Sleep Room. Open the Terminal’s Social or Friends menu.
- Open Add Friend. Find Your Code and share that Outlast ID with your friend.
- Enter your friend’s ID in the code field, search for their profile and send the friend request. Check the displayed profile before confirming.
- The recipient accepts the request in their in-game Social menu.
- Select the online friend and invite them to your group. They accept the group invitation; check that their Reagent appears in your party before selecting a Trial.
An accepted friend request and an accepted party invitation are separate steps. Ordinary co-op groups contain up to four players.
Before trying again
Both players need internet access and a compatible, updated game installation. Crossplay must be enabled for both players; platform privacy controls must also permit cross-network multiplayer.
The PlayStation store lists online play as required and requires a PlayStation account for online features. Check your platform’s multiplayer access if the game cannot connect. Xbox currently lists Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate for console online multiplayer; an old guide’s subscription name may differ.
If a request fails, recheck the Outlast ID rather than entering a platform username. If the friendship exists but the invitation fails, return to the Sleep Room, check that the friend is online and the group has a free slot, then resend the invitation. Restart and update both games if their connection states remain inconsistent. These are troubleshooting checks, not a guaranteed fix for a server outage.
Menu positions and bindings can vary. Follow the on-screen Social prompts rather than relying on a fixed keyboard shortcut.
