Leland Coyle: baton attacks and Rig-disable recovery

The short answer

Keep distance from Coyle’s baton and break visual contact. If hit, regain space while your Rig is disabled; Hide and Restore can clear ordinary disable, with exceptions.

Ordinary PvE Coyle encounters and a Prison Farm overview. Hide and Restore does not cancel Rig-disabling gates; no universal disable countdown is promised.

Watch the baton and keep an exit

Leland Coyle’s electric baton gives off blue light and crackling. Listen for his loud patrol speech, keep space around him and avoid running directly into a grab.

Break visual contact around solid cover and move on. He checks hiding spots and breaks locked doors, so a door or cabinet buys limited time. A Stun or Blind Rig can create an opening; do not assume a thrown Bottle holds him as long as a Rig does.

Recover from Rig disable

A baton hit can temporarily disable your Rig. Create distance with your route and available items instead of repeatedly trying to activate the disabled tool.

If equipped, Hide and Restore can clear the ordinary Rig-disable effect when you hide. Its exception matters: it does not cancel the effect of Rig-disabling gates, and the Limited Rigs Variator can negate its benefit. Otherwise, wait for the disable indicator to clear before relying on your Rig again.

The original official announcement described a 20-second disable, while later community history records a longer duration. Use the actual indicator; this guide does not promise a universal countdown.

Prison Farm is a separate route

In Locksock the Warden, Coyle patrols the Prison Farm and can interfere with the final escape, particularly on harder difficulty. Finish the crafting, valves, pig heads and cell-code objectives using the Warden walkthrough.

For ordinary encounters, the goal is to regain distance and continue the assignment. Do not stand beside an objective merely because another map once diverted his attention.
