The Outlast Trials Jaeger: tracking and survival tools

The short answer

The Jaeger tracks an assigned Reagent even in darkness or hiding. Keep a route open and maintain distance; Rigs provide only limited interruption or have immunity exceptions.

Jaeger encounters and scripted Escape the Lies phases. Stun is brief; Blind smoke and Heal Poison do not provide their usual protection. No guaranteed pathfinding exploit.

Hiding does not clear her target

The Jaeger is Henrietta Grubbs in her augmented form. A distinctive harsh Insertion alarm announces her arrival. She receives directions to an assigned Reagent, so darkness and hiding spots do not erase that tracking.

If you are the target, keep a route open and maintain distance while moving between objectives. Ordinary stealth against other enemies still matters, but waiting in a cabinet for her to forget you is not a reliable plan. Locked doors provide little delay against her strength.

Tools buy very limited time

Stun can interrupt her briefly; it does not provide the normal full stun window. Blind’s smoke does not blind her, and the Heal Rig’s Poison upgrade does not slow her. Use a brief interruption to move rather than starting a long stationary action beside her.

Teammates should leave room for the target to circle away and work on objectives when possible. Being another Reagent—or a player Imposter—does not make blocking her path safe.

Check the Trial’s conditions

The Jaeger Variator changes the Specialist selection for your run. Escape the Lies also has scripted Jaeger phases, including its finale and exit. Follow that objective chain to advance those phases.

An old crawlspace trick is not a guaranteed removal method: pathfinding behavior has changed in previous updates. This guide does not promise a fixed timer or a universal way to cancel her pursuit.
